
About Texas LGD Association
The Texas LGD Association is a 501(c)(3) charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to the support, preservation, responsible promotion, and effective use of LGDs and their essential role in livestock production systems. The Association is committed to advancing science-based, ethical, and practical use of LGDs to improve predator management outcomes, animal welfare, and long-term sustainability for producers.
The Texas LGD Association supports and sponsors activities, including, but not limited to:
- Educational newsletters and member communications
- Producer and breeder directories and networking resources
- Promotion of best management practices for LGD breeding, placement, bonding, and long-term retention
- Data collection and information sharing related to LGD health, behavior, welfare, and effectiveness
- Educational resources, archives, and reference materials available to members
- Collaboration and support among producers, researchers, Extension personnel, and working-dog professionals
- Field days, workshops, webinars, and outreach events highlighting LGDs as working livestock protection tools
- Opportunities for informal gatherings and professional exchange among LGD owners and practitioners
- Ongoing educational information focused on the practical, real-world application of livestock guardian dogs across diverse production environments
